Monday, October 14, 2024
Krystal Werfel, Ph.D., research scientist and director of the Research Participants Services Core at Boys Town National Research Hospital, has been awarded the Fellowship of the Association by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
The Fellowship is one of the highest honors awarded by ASHA. It recognizes individuals who have made significant, outstanding contributions to communication sciences and disorders. Fellows are nominated based on achievements in areas such as clinical service, teaching, research and leadership. The award is limited to a small percentage of ASHA members, ensuring that recipients are truly distinguished among their peers.
“I am deeply honored to be named a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. It is a privilege to join past recipients, who have led tremendous advances in our field," Werfel said. “I am especially honored to be nominated by current colleagues as well as early mentors in my career, and I look forward to continuing to improve literacy outcomes for children who are deaf and hard of hearing for years to come."
“Dr. Werfel is a shining example of a mentor, scientist and leader," said Karla McGregor, Ph.D., Director of Research at the Boys Town Center for Childhood Deafness, Language and Learning. “Her research consistently provides evidence that informs practice. We are thrilled to have her as a colleague."
